In 1993, Bates met up with old friend Kelly Groucutt, who had been ELO bassist, resulting in Bates joining ELO Part 2, replacing Pete Haycock and Neil Lockwood. ELO Part 2 took the music of ELO around the world, often playing with symphony orchestras in large venues around the globe * * * PHIL BATES & BAND performing the songs of ELO a phenomenal Show ! for over 25 years the frontman of THE ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA .

The Austin-based guitarist and winner of the Austin Music Award for "Best Guitar 2016" is releasing his 6th studio album "America" and will be on tour through Europe and the US all of 2017.

Karmakanic and the Tangent are coming! Be ready for some of the most off-the-han dle Progressive Rock/Jazz Fusion music going on in Europe today - two bands with more than fifteen albums behind them, some amazing musicians and wildly imaginative songs and stories from both. Six people will make up the touring party and will play the music of BOTH bands. Karmakanic led by Jonas Reingold will play their set with Goran Edman as lead vocalist. For T he Tangent, Andy Tillison becomes Musical Director and handles the lead vocals. Along with the t wo writers, Luke Machin will play the guitar, Marie Eve de Gaultier will play keyboards and along with dru mmer (TBC) all 6 performers will play both sets.
